Blog Post #3

This blog entry is about a tool in Dr. Wangs PPT slide 2. The tool that I have chosen to write about is Kahoot, which is essentially an interactive game based learning tool that I intend to use in my future classroom.

What is Kahoot?

Kahoot is an interactive, game-based learning platform that teachers use to review content, check understanding, and engage students in a fun way. Teachers can create or choose quizzes, and students answer questions in real time using their own devices, earning points based on speed and accuracy. Kahoot is often used for review sessions, formative assessment, and classroom engagement because it turns learning into a competitive but low-stress game. It works well in both in-person and online classrooms and helps teachers quickly see what students understand.

Ease of Use:

One of the main advantages of Kahoot is how easy it is to use. As a student who is preparing to become a teacher, I find it simple to join games using a code, with no account needed. The layout is clear and easy to understand, which makes it accessible for students of different ages. Because Kahoot works on phones, tablets, and computers, it is easy to use and manage in my own future classroom.

Here is a video on how to use Kahoot as a Teacher!

Versatility:

Another strength of Kahoot is its versatility. As a student preparing to become a teacher, I see how it can be used in many different ways, such as reviewing lessons, checking understanding, or introducing new topics in a fun way. Kahoot can be adapted for different subjects, grade levels, and learning environments, including in-person and online classes. This flexibility makes it a useful tool that I would likely use often in my future classroom.

Overall Likelihood of Using it:

Overall, I am very likely to use Kahoot in my future classroom because it is engaging, easy to use, and effective for checking student understanding. As a student preparing to become a teacher, I can see how it motivates students to participate and makes learning more enjoyable. Its flexibility across subjects and grade levels also makes it a practical tool for regular classroom use.

How Kahoot Connects to EDUC 462:

Kahoot connects well to the TLC framework, the SAMR model, and the 7 Events of Instruction because it supports both teaching and learning in an interactive way.

Within the TLC framework, Kahoot helps teachers deliver content while actively engaging students and checking their understanding.

Using the SAMR model, Kahoot often goes beyond simple substitution by modifying or redefining learning tasks, such as turning traditional quizzes into live, interactive games with instant feedback.

In terms of the 7 Events of Instruction, Kahoot can gain students’ attention, stimulate recall of prior knowledge, provide immediate feedback, and assess performance.

Overall, Kahoot fits well into these frameworks because it promotes engagement, feedback, and active participation in the learning process.

  1. Hey Ari! I really liked your post! It was very well organized and easy to read. I like how you explained that it can be used with students in the classroom as well as remotely. As future teachers in the current modern world, we need to be able to adapt our teaching to accommodate anything. Overall, great post!
