Blog Post #5

This blog post is about a tool in Dr. Wangs TLC Tools. The teachnology that I have chosen to write about is Padlet, which is an online tool teachers use to create a shared digital board where people post media all in one place! This is another great resource I think would be super valuable to use in my classroom.

What is Padlet?

Padlet is an online collaboration tool that lets people post and share ideas on a digital board. Teachers often use it to create a space where students can respond to questions, brainstorm ideas, or share resources using text, images, videos, or links. It’s simple to use and encourages participation by allowing everyone to contribute in one shared place.

Ease of Use:

Padlet is easy to use because it has a simple, user-friendly design. Students can join with a link and start posting right away, without needing advanced technical skills. Creating posts is quick, and everything is clearly organized on one board, which makes it easy for both teachers and students to navigate and participate.

Here is what the website looks like:

Versatility:

Padlet is versatile because it can be used in many different ways across subjects and grade levels. Teachers can use it for brainstorming, discussions, group projects, exit tickets, or sharing resources. It also supports different types of content, such as text, images, videos, links, and files, making it adaptable to many learning activities and teaching styles.

Overall Likelihood of Using it:

Overall, the likelihood of me using Padlet in my classroom is high because it is easy to use, flexible, and effective for encouraging student participation. Its simple setup and variety of features make it a practical tool for future teachers to incorporate into their classrooms as well.

How GoNoodle Connects to EDUC 462:

SAMR Model:  Padlet can function at the augmentation level by replacing traditional discussions or brainstorming with added features like multimedia and instant sharing. It can also reach the Modification level by allowing real-time collaboration and peer interaction that would be difficult to achieve with paper-based activities.

PICRAT Framework: Padlet often places students in an Interactive role, since they are actively contributing ideas, responding to peers, and engaging with content rather than passively consuming information. Teachers are using technology to amplify learning by increasing participation and visibility of student thinking.

TLC Framework: Padlet supports effective teaching practices by encouraging collaboration, reflection, and formative assessment. Teachers can quickly gauge student understanding and adjust instruction based on responses. Padlet also aligns with learning theories such as constructivism and social learning, as students build knowledge together and learn from each other’s ideas.

  1. Arisely! I appreciated how clear and easy to follow your blog on Padlet was! I've never heard of Padlet before and you did a great job of explaining what it was in a simple way that made sense. Your connections to the SAMR, PICRAT, and TLC Framework really highlight you're understanding of how this technology connects to instructional practices we've learned out in class.

  2. I liked how you incorporated a variety of different frame works that this platform fits under. I have not heard of Padlet before so it was something new but it seems like it can be a vital source in the classroom.
