Blog Post #10

This blog entry is about a tool in Dr. Wangs TLC Tools . The tool that I have chosen to write about is ABCya Animations, which is a technology that lets students create their own short animations frame by frame.

What It ABCya Animate?
ABCya Animate is a simple, kid-friendly online tool that lets students create their own short animations frame by frame. Students draw characters, add movement, and build stories by sequencing images together. It turns storytelling and creativity into an interactive digital experience.

Ease of Use
One of the biggest strengths of ABCya Animate is how straightforward it is. The layout is simple, the drawing tools are easy to understand, and students can start creating right away without complicated instructions. Because it’s designed for young learners, it feels accessible rather than overwhelming.

Here is what the website looks like:

Versatility
Animate is versatile because it can be used across subjects. Students might retell a story from reading class, show the steps of a science process, demonstrate a math concept, or create a social studies scene. It works for creative storytelling as well as academic demonstrations of understanding.

Overall Likelihood of Using It in My Classroom
I would likely use ABCya Animate in my classroom as a creative assessment tool. It gives students a different way to show what they know beyond writing or speaking. Because it encourages creativity, sequencing, and planning, it feels like a meaningful way to combine engagement with learning goals.

Teaching–Learning Cycle
ABCya Animate fits the Teaching–Learning Cycle by letting students explore ideas, create an original animation, and then reflect or revise based on feedback. As they build their animated frames, they actively construct meaning, get practice sequencing their thinking, and can share their work with classmates for peer review.

LAT Framework
Through the LAT  framework, ABCya Animate shows how technology supports purposeful activity: the task of representing a narrative or concept through animation. The technology isn’t just a game, but it’s the vehicle that makes the activity (creating and communicating a story or idea) possible and meaningful.

TPACK
ABCya Animate connects to TPACK by blending content (storytelling and sequencing), pedagogy (guiding students in planning and revising), and technology (animation creation). Using the tool well means thinking about all three together rather than just letting students click around and the teacher designs tasks that make the technology support genuine learning.
